Ubuntu vs. Kubuntu

As most of you know, Ubuntu and Kubuntu 9.04 were released the other day.  They are basically the same, except they use different desktop environments.  However, which one is superior?  We have researched this for you, and displayed the facts in the review below.

Product Review:

Ubuntu vs. Kubuntu

Interface:

Kubuntu’s interface is much superior to Ubuntu’s, and is more intuitive by integrating some methods of Windows into it.  In addition, it is much more visually attractive than Ubuntu.

Winner: Kubuntu

Features:

Kubuntu and Ubuntu have relatively the same features, except Kubuntu features a gadget gallery, and Ubuntu does not.

Winner: Kubuntu

Graphics:

The graphics of the two are again almost the same.  However, Ubuntu offers cool jelly effects, while Kubuntu does not.

Winner: Ubuntu

Performance:

Although Ubuntu and Kubuntu operate roughly the same, Kubuntu is a bit slower than Ubuntu, and often freezes up a bit.

Winner: Ubuntu

Conclusion:

Although Ubuntu and Kubuntu operate roughly the same, they both come with their distinct features.  We found the two to be a dead tie.  However, they are intended for different uses.  If you need a short-term solution for a crashed computer or something, then Ubuntu is right for you.  If you’re looking for a more permanent OS, then I would probably recommend Kubuntu.  They both feature the relatively the same features, except with Ubuntu, you would be giving up the visually attractive interface, ease of accessibility, and gadget gallery.  And with Kubuntu, you would be giving up the jelly effects and high performance.
